Glossary

A

Aggregated

Overall performance data based on data associated with both the controllers, fetched using
object type and counter specific calculation.

C

Chart Category

Performance counters for the same unit of measurement are grouped together as a category.
Following are the different categories for which you can plot charts:

General(Count)

Percentage(%)

Throughput(Req/s)

Data Transfer Rate(MB/s)

Latencies(ms)

Data Transfer Size(KB)

Chart Duration

The duration for which the performance data is displayed in a Live chart at any given point of
time. For example, if the duration is 30 minutes, performance data for the last 30 minutes appears
in the live chart. That is, if the duration is selected as 30 minutes, the data points corresponding
to the first 30 minutes are visible in the chart. After a new data point is plotted beyond 30 minutes,
the first oldest data point is dropped from the chart. Also, when a new data point gets plotted,
the previously plotted data points keep shifting to the left until the selected duration is reached.

Controller
Aggregated

Counters that you can select across Controller A, Controller B, or both. Example, Read
Requests/sec for both the controllers. These counters can be selected in live and historical charts
in dashboard KPI, key metrics, charts, and reports.

D

Derived Counters

Aggregation of two different counters. For example, Read Latency of a virtual disk is derived
from the Read Hit Latency, Read Hit Requests, Read Miss Latency, and Read Miss Requests.
Derived counters can be selected in live and historical charts in dashboard KPI, key metrics,
charts, and reports.

H

Historical Data

The Performance data of that is stored in HP P6000 Performance Advisor server.

Hourly or Daily
Average

Applicable only for historical data.

If the number of data points available during the specified time interval is more than 400, the
data points are averaged over an hour and the number of points get condensed for greater
visibility. Similarly, if the number of hourly points exceed 400, the points are condensed as daily
average. In addition, the data shown is always an average of all the data samples collected for
the selected duration. You can view charts with data plotted for an hourly or daily basis while
creating a report.

K

Key Metrics

Key Metrics is a HP P6000 Performance Advisor component that displays the performance data
(key metric data) of objects for the most commonly used counters (key counters). For more
information, see

“Key Metrics” (page 20)

.

Key Performance
Indicator

Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a HP P6000 Performance Advisor component that allows quick
viewing of performance data for combination of objects and counters that you think are important.
It is especially useful if you are interested to view performance data of objects that are configured
in the production setup. For more information, see

“KPIs” (page 20)
