Basic Playback —Continued
This section explains how to load and remove discs with-
out stopping playback.
The section explains how to select loaded discs.
Loading Discs During Playback
1 Press the Open/Close [ ]
button.
The disc tray opens.
The disc that’s currently playing
remains inside the DPC-8.5 and its disc
bay is empty and won’t come to the
front. To remove this disc, you must
stop playback before pressing the
Open/Close [
] button.
2 Load or remove discs as
required, and press the [Disc
Skip] button to access the other
disc bays.

3 When you’ve finished, press the
Open/Close [
] button again.
The disc tray closes.
Playback of the current disc continues
uninterrupted until you either stop
playback or select another disc.
Tip: If you press one of the Disc Select
1–6 buttons, the disc tray will close,
playback of the current disc will stop,
and playback of the newly selected disc
will start automatically.
Selecting Discs
Use the Disc Select 1–6 buttons
to select loaded discs.
On the remote controller these buttons
are labelled [Disc 1], [Disc 2], and so
on.
The disc indicator on the display shows
the number of the current disc.
DVD-Video example is shown here.
What happens next depends on the type
of disc you selected, as follows:
DVD-Video: Typically a menu appears
onscreen (see page 32).
DVD-Audio: Either playback starts
automatically or a menu appears
onscreen.
VCD: Playback starts automatically.
DVD-VR/CD/SACD: Playback starts
automatically.
MP3/JPEG: The Disc Navigator
appears onscreen and playback starts
automatically (see page 34).
JPEG-only CD: With some JPEG
CDs, picture thumbnails appear
onscreen (see page 39).
