Enter Code Mode.

Insert test strip to turn on meter.
“OneTouch UltraSmart” will appear,
followed by code number.

See Code Number.

Code number will appear on display.

Match Code Numbers.

Compare code number on meter display
with code number on test strip vial. If
matching, begin testing. If not matching,
see Step 4.

Select Test Mode.

Use Arrow button

to select

“Apply Blood” for fingertip sample
or “Alternate Site” for forearm and
palm samples. Do Not select Control
Solution mode when testing blood.
Failure to select correct test mode
may cause blood glucose averages
to be incorrect.

Insert Test Strip.

Push it all the way in until it will go no
further. Meter turns on automatically.

Very high blood glucose level
exceeding 33.3 mmol/L.

There may be a problem with meter.
1) Turn off meter. Enter Set-up mode.

Reset meter before testing; or

2) Turn off meter. Enter Set-up mode.

Reset language, date, time and
meter code.

If Error 1 message continues,

Do Not

use the meter. Call the OneTouch

®

for a replacement meter.

Used test strip inserted or problem
with meter. Repeat test with new test
strip.

Blood or control solution sample
applied before “Apply Blood”,
“Alternate Site”, or “Control Solution”
appeared on display. Repeat test with
new test strip.

Fill Confirmation Window.

Be sure confirmation window is full
before meter counts down. If window
is not full before meter begins
countdown, repeat test with new
test strip. Do Not add more blood to
the test strip; discard the test strip
and retest.

Accurate Results in Just 5 Seconds.

1) New meter not coded. Code meter; or

2) Meter lost power briefly and

entered Set-up mode. Reset code
number.

Test result with suggestion to check
ketone levels.

Test result is from 1.1 through 3.3
mmol/L with meal or snack reminder.

Blood glucose level lower than
1.1 mmol/L.

Code Meter.

Scroll up or down with Arrow button
