Model PRO78

Rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride/Nickel Cadmium
Batteries and Charger

Owner’s Manual

Thank you for purchasing the NoMEM PRO Battery System. Please read this manual carefully. It contains important
operating instructions for your NoMEM PRO Rechargeable Battery System. This PRO78 charger will quickly and
efficiently charge 2, 4, 6 or 8 AA and AAA Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) or Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries.

Warning:

• Batteries are not charged as shipped. Must be charged prior to first use.
• Charge only NiCd or NiMH batteries on this charger.
• Do Not mix NiCd and NiMH batteries together when charging or using. Keep all NiMH batteries and NiCd
batteries separate.
• Use only NoMEM PRO or other proper NiMH compatible charger to recharge NoMEM PRO batteries.
• Batteries may leak or explode causing personal injury if inserted improperly, disposed of in fire, mixed with
other battery types, or short circuited.

CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Choose the AC adapter or the DC car cord, depending on whether you will be using the charger unit indoors or in a
vehicle and connect the plug into the power jack on the top edge of the charger.

2. The PRO78 can charge 2, 4, 6 or 8 NiMH or NiCd batteries. Do not mix battery types when charging. There are four (4 ) sets
of charging locations, with each location capable of charging two (2) batteries. Flip down the (+) contacts to use with AAA
batteries, flip the contacts up for use with AA cells. Each location must be loaded with two of the same size batteries (AA
or AAA) to operate. You cannot not pair AA and AAA size batteries for charging together.

TIP: For best performance and longest life, make sure that batteries are matched up according to capacity and age. New
batteries should not be mixed with older batteries. Similarly, batteries with different capacities should not be mixed
together. This is true for charging batteries as well as when using the batteries in a device. Both of these examples will
cause stress between the unmatched batteries, and shorten their life expectancy

3. Insert the batteries, in pairs, starting at the left side and loading additional batteries to the right as you go. The batteries
must be inserted as indicated by the diagrams in each battery location. To install a battery in the charger, insert the
negative (-) end of the battery first. The PRO78 will select the proper charge rate for AA or AAA size batteries
automatically.

4. A red indicator LED for each set of four batteries should light if batteries are installed correctly. When the LED indicator’s
turn off, after about 7 hours, the batteries are fully charged. From this point the charger will switch to “trickle” or slow
charge mode to assure maintaining the batteries at 100% of capacity. For best battery performance, do not leave batteries
in the charger for prolonged periods. Try not to leave the batteries in the charger for more than 24 hours.

5. Unplug the charger and remove all batteries. Leave charger unplugged when not in use. Do not leave batteries in the
charger when it is unplugged. To charge more batteries, begin again at step 1.

CAUTION:

• Read all instructions before operation of this charger.
• Charge only NoMEM PRO or other compatible NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) or NiCd (Nickel Cadmium) batteries. Charging
other battery types will void warranty and may result in damage to the battery, charger, or cause personal injury.
• Recharge only one type of battery at a time.
• Do not expose this charger to rain or moisture.
• Unplug from AC or DC autocord when not in use. Do not use AC or DC adapter if cord is damaged.
