USB Triggering
Serial Trigger Technical Overview
TD options provide advanced serial data triggering. Serial data triggering is implemented directly within the
hardware of the oscilloscope acquisition system and utilizes the decoder algorithms to recognize user-
defined serial data patterns. This allows a recognized pattern to be used to trigger the oscilloscope, while
other signals coincident with the desired pattern can be simultaneously captured.
Linking Decoder to Trigger
A quick way to set up a serial trigger is to link it to a decoder by checking the Link to Trigger On box on the
Serial Decode dialog.
Linking decoder to trigger allows you to configure trigger parameters with the exact same values that are
used for decodiing the signal, saving the extra effort needed to re-enter parameter values used to decode the
signal on the serial trigger set up dialogs.
<Also, why do you pick channels or Ext for the data source on the trigger setup dialog when presumably it is
the decoder that recognizes the serial data pattern? why would you ever want to use anything but Decode1-4
as the source? >
