Task 4: Perform Cleanup Activities

Task 4: Perform Cleanup Activities

1. Review the DSVLOCS file to determine where the DSVs were placed.

The DSVLOCS file indicates the volume on which each DSV was established.

2. Check that the files are in their final destination.

If you manage your software configuration using DSM/SCM:

Issue a Receive Software request to move the files from their DSVs to the
DSM/SCM archive. You can then create a new software revision and perform a
Build/Apply to move the files to their target subvolumes (TSVs). For more
information, see the DSM/SCM User’s Guide.

If you install software by some means other than using DSM/SCM:

You need to edit and then run the OBEY command for the DSV2ISV file to copy
and rename the DSVs to the necessary installation subvolumes (ISVs).

a. Determine product-specific requirements.

After all products are moved from the CD-ROM or DVD to the NonStop system,
refer to each product’s specific instructions for additional installation,
configuration, or usage requirements.

b. Find the DSV2ISV file on the IP CD-ROM or DVD in this location:

\NSK_SW\ prodname\a999999\DSV2ISV

c.

Use an ASCII file transfer mechanism (such as FTP) to copy the DSV2ISV file
to the NonStop system.

d. Edit the DSV2ISV file. (

Example 2-1

on page 2-9 shows an unedited DSV2ISV

file.)

The DSV2ISV file contains FUP DUP commands for each product.

1. Delete the DSV2ISV file sections for any products or processor types you

are not installing.

2. Change the

$DSV

in each FUP DUP command to the DSV indicated in the

DSVLOCS file you reviewed in Step 2.

3. Change the

$ISV

in each FUP DUP command to the appropriate ISV

location on your system.

e. Save the DSV2ISV file.

f.

Perform the OBEY command on the DSV2ISV file to execute the DSV-to-ISV
conversion.

> OBEY DSV2IS\V

The DSVs are converted to ISVs as specified in the OBEY file. Once DSV2ISV
completes successfully, you can install the software placed in the ISVs.
