system is in Relaxed retention mode (not Enterprise), the exact date/time can be in the past, in
which case the file immediately expires from retention and becomes WORM but no longer retained.
See the Linux date(1) man page for a description of the valid date/time formats for the
expire_time
parameter.
Removing the retention period
When you remove the retention period from a retained file, the file becomes a WORM file. On
the WORM/Data Retention – File Administration dialog box, select Remove Retention Period and
specify the appropriate file.
To remove the retention period using the CLI:
ibrix_reten_adm -c -f FSNAME -P PATHLIST
Deleting a file administratively
This option allows you to delete a file that is under the control of a data retention policy. On the
WORM/Data Retention – File Administration dialog box, select Administrative Delete and specify
the appropriate file.
CAUTION: Deleting files administratively removes them from the file system, regardless of the
data retention policy.
To delete a file using the CLI:
ibrix_reten_adm -d -f FSNAME -P PATHLIST
Running data validation scans
Scheduling a validation scan
When you use the GUI to enable a file system for data validation, you can set up a schedule for
validation scans. You might want to run additional scans of the file system at other times, or you
might want to scan particular directories in the file system.
NOTE: Although you can schedule multiple scans of a file system, only one scan can run at a
time for a given file system.
To schedule a validation scan, select the file system on the GUI, and then select Active Tasks from
the lower navigator. Select New to open the Starting a New Task dialog box. Select Data Validation
as the Task Type.
When you click OK, the Start a new Validation Scan dialog box appears. Change the path to be
scanned if necessary.
