The SAS BL Switch and the connected SAS storage are configured using drive bay zone
groups. The group of drive bays is presented to the c-Class enclosure blade port (server bay)
as if it was directly connected to that server bay.

NOTE:

Unpopulated drive bays in the storage enclosure can be included in a zone group,

to help plan for future growth.

The server bay that needs access to drive bays must be assigned to the appropriate zone
group.

A server bay can be assigned multiple zone groups.

A drive-bay zone group can be assigned to only one server bay.

Unpopulated server bays can be assigned zone groups.

Disk drives in the storage enclosure are configured into logical units (LUNs) using host-based
configuration utilities such as HP Array Configuration Utility (ACU).

Tape devices

When tape devices are attached to the switch:

The tape device is configured using switch port zone groups. The entire tape device connected
to that switch port is presented to all c-Class enclosure blade ports (server bays) granted access
to the zone group.

NOTE:

Unused switch ports can be included in a zone group, to help plan for future growth.

Server bays that need access to tape devices must be assigned the appropriate zone group.

A server bay can be assigned multiple zone groups.

A switch-port zone group can be assigned to more than one server bay.

Unpopulated server bays can be assigned to a zone group.
