Section 4.7: ‘Illegal’ Responses
All messages with the proper protocol ($.......<cr>) will be processed by the Source
Indexer. If the content or form of the message of the message is determined to be incorrect by
the Source Indexer one of the following messages will be returned.
Note:
If the protocol sent or baud rate used is not correct the SRT will not
respond to the transmitted message.
Illegal Command
A command code (first byte) which the SRT does not recognize has
been sent.
Illegal Data Value
The data value or parameter sent following the command code is
out of range or an incorrect code.
Illegal Syntax
This indicates the format of the data is incorrect. Wrong number of
data parameters sent for the command used. Or, improper
delimiters between data.

Query the unit for any operating parameter

Version Query: Returns Software Version
Response:
$*SRT422VXXXX<cr>
This command reports the identity of the instrument and the version # of the firmware
installed. This command is useful in initially testing the communications link and in the initial
debugging of the communication software.
