Setting Configuration Options
Reading a configuration file from an instrument or loading a configuration file from the database will open
the Configuration Module dialog box (page 53). Buttons on the dialog box allow the supervisor to display
and/or modify the instrument configuration:

Purpose

Instrument Options
a. General Options

1. Specify when the display panel is illuminated.
2. Allow operators to change the date or time.
3. Allow operators to erase a database.
4. Suppress display of QC results.
5. Enter instrument supervisor PIN.

b. Operator ID Options

1. Require entry of an Operator ID (OID) before a test can be run.
2. Require that the supervisor-specified OID or Personal Identification

Number (PIN) must be entered by an operator in order to operate
the instrument.

3. Specify that the OID for the previous test is automatically entered for

a specified length of time or until a new OID is entered.

4. Specify that the barcode scanner must be used for entering the

Operator ID.

c. Patient ID Options

1. Specify the number of digits for a Patient ID (PID).
2. Require entry of a (PID) before a test can be run.
3. Specify that the PID for the previous test is automatically entered for

a specified length of time or until a new PID is entered.

4. Specify that the barcode scanner must be used for entering the

Patient ID.

d. Date Format Options

1. Specify a date format of MM/DD/YY or YY-MM-DD.

e. Time Format Options

1. Specify a 24-hour or 12-hour (am and pm) time format.

f. Cuvette Lot Options/

QC Lot Options

1. Require entry of a cuvette lot number and/or QC lot number.
2. Specify that the barcode scanner must be used for entering the

cuvette lot number and/or QC lot number.

3. Require that cuvette and/or QC lot numbers that are used can only

be selected from a list specified by the supervisor.

Lock-Out Control
a. QC Lockout

1. Specify whether electronic quality control (EQC) testing must be run

after a specified time interval has elapsed.

2. Specify either 300 seconds or 500 seconds for the EQC level 2 test.
3. Specify automatic running of EQC tests at scheduled intervals.
4. For each test type, specify whether normal and/or abnormal liquid

quality control (LQC) testing must be run after a specified time
interval has elapsed.

5. Prohibit specific test(s) from being performed on the instrument.
6. If EQC and/or LQC testing must be run after a specified interval,

specify the number of additional tests that can be run per assay (the
911 exceptions) after the time interval has elapsed.

b. QC Exceptions

1. Specify the number of EQC or LQC test failures that are allowed

before the instrument is locked and must be reset by the supervisor.
