The Xbox Controller is for use exclusively with the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft. For informa-
tion about using the Xbox Controller with a game, see your game manual.
IMPORTANT! Before using this product, read the Xbox Video Game System Instruction Manual for impor-
tant safety information and health warnings. Please retain both the Xbox Video Game System Instruc-
tion Manual and these instructions for future reference. The limited warranty covering this Xbox
Controller is contained in the Xbox Video Game System Instruction Manual.
Connecting and Disconnecting Xbox Controllers
To connect an Xbox Controller, insert the connector end of the Xbox Controller into any controller port on
the front of the Xbox console.
To disconnect, pull on the Xbox Controller’s connector end, not on the cable.
Do not touch Xbox Controller cord terminals or the Xbox Controller ports with
your fingers or allow metal parts to touch them. Doing so may damage the Xbox
Controller or the Xbox console.
Inline Release
Each Microsoft Xbox Controller cord has an inline release. This is a safety feature
designed to reduce the chance of the Xbox console falling when the cord is pulled.
If the Xbox console falls and hits someone, especially a small child, it could cause
serious injury. To reduce the risk of such injuries or damage to the Xbox console,
it is important to use the Xbox Controller and the inline release properly.
Use the Xbox Controller connector, not the inline release, to routinely connect or disconnect the Xbox
Controller. If an inline release disconnects, simply reconnect it by aligning the grooved indentations and
pressing the two parts completely together. The Xbox Controller will not work unless the inline release is
connected properly.
WARNING! Never tape, glue, or otherwise prevent an inline release from pulling apart.
The inline release reduces, but does not eliminate, the risk of the Xbox console being pulled off its surface.
To further reduce the risk:
• Do not allow anyone to pull on the Xbox Controllers or controller cords in a way that causes the
Xbox console to move.
• Do not allow Xbox Controller cords to become crossed or tangled with one another.

Using Xbox Controller Expansion Slots
The Xbox Controller expansion slots allow you to connect expansion devices to the Xbox controller, such as
an Xbox Memory Unit (shown) (part number K02-00001, sold separately). For more information, see the
instruction manual for your Xbox expansion device.
Do not touch expansion device terminals or the Xbox Controller expansion slots with your fingers or allow
metal parts to touch them. Doing so may damage the Xbox Memory Unit or the Xbox Controller.
If you need more help
Should you have any problems, do not attempt to take apart, service, or modify the Xbox Controller or Xbox
console in any way. Doing so could present the risk of serious injury or death from electric shock or fire,
and it will void your warranty. Do not take your Xbox video game system or this peripheral to your retailer
for repair or service, unless instructed to do so by an Xbox Customer Support representative.

Raccordement et débranchement des manettes de jeu Xbox
Pour raccorder une manette de jeu Xbox, insérez le connecteur de la manette dans un port prévu à cet
effet à l’avant de la console Xbox.
Pour débrancher la manette de jeu, retirez le connecteur. Ne tirez pas sur le câble.
Ne touchez pas aux bornes du cordon de la manette ni aux ports de la manette
Xbox et évitez tout contact de ces éléments avec des pièces métalliques. Vous
risquez d’endommager la manette de jeu ou la console Xbox.
Connecteur en ligne
Le cordon de chaque manette de jeu Xbox est équipé d’un connecteur en ligne.
Il s’agit d’une mesure de sécurité destinée à réduire le risque de chute de la
console Xbox lorsque l’on tire sur le cordon. En tombant, la console Xbox peut
heurter quelqu’un, en particulier un jeune enfant, et provoquer des blessures
graves. Pour réduire le risque de blessures physiques ou d’endommagement de
la console Xbox, il est important d’utiliser correctement les manettes de jeu Xbox
et le connecteur en ligne.
Utilisez le connecteur de la manette Xbox et non le connecteur en ligne pour brancher ou débrancher la
manette de jeu. Si un connecteur en ligne est débranché, il suffit de le raccorder en faisant correspondre
les encoches et en enfonçant fermement les deux parties l’une dans l’autre. La manette Xbox ne fonctionne
que si les deux parties du connecteur en ligne sont correctement raccordées.
AVERTISSEMENT! Évitez d’utiliser du ruban adhésif, de la colle ou tout autre moyen de fixation pour
réparer un connecteur en ligne défectueux.
Le connecteur en ligne réduit le risque de chute de la console Xbox, sans toutefois l’éliminer complètement.
Pour réduire ce risque au minimum :
• Empêchez quiconque de tirer sur les manettes de jeu Xbox ou sur les cordons des manettes, et de
déplacer par mégarde la console.
• Veillez à ne pas entrecroiser ni enchevêtrer les cordons des manettes de jeu Xbox.

Utilisation des logements d’extension de la manette de jeu Xbox
La manette de jeu Xbox est équipée de deux logements d’extension qui servent au raccordement de
périphériques, tels qu’une carte mémoire Xbox (numéro de réf. K02-00001, vendue séparément), comme le
montre le schéma ci-dessous. Pour de plus amples informations, consultez la section du manuel d’instructions
se rapportant au périphérique Xbox utilisé.
Ne touchez pas aux bornes de périphérique ni aux logements d’extension de la manette Xbox et évitez tout
contact de ces éléments avec des pièces métalliques. Vous risquez d’endommager la carte mémoire ou la
manette de jeu Xbox.
