Installation of your Radio Station

There are no separate components, which need to be assembled to your

Radio Station. We have added four holes on the base of your Radio Station
to secure it to your layout. It is not necessary to secure this accessory to
your layout, but we recommend it to prevent the Radio Station from being
knocked off your layout and potentially damaging it.

Wiring your Radio Station

Your Radio Station will operate best from 12-18 vac. It can be powered

with track power or a separate accessory power supply. On the underside of
your Radio Station, there are two spring clips. These are used for the elec-
trical connection. To wire your Radio Station, start by connecting an insu-
lated wire from one of the spring clips to the “U” terminal of track power
supply (if using track power) or accessory power supply. To connect the
wires to the spring clips, press down on the springy upper half of the metal
loop until the lower part projects through the slot. Insert the bare wire end
into the loop and release the upper part of the clip. Spring tension will hold
the wire tight. Finally, connect the last insulated wire from the other spring
clip to the “A” terminal of track power supply or accessory power supply.
(See diagram below) You can now turn on your Radio Station to begin
playing your favorite tunes.

Operation your Radio Tower in Command Control

The radio function of your Radio Tower cannot be controlled in

Command Control. It also cannot be used with a SC-1. You can however
control power on and off to the Radio Tower using a SC-2. Please refer to
your SC-2 manual for wiring instructions and diagrams.

Replacing the lamp in your Radio Tower

During the course of normal operation, the LED (6SP-2991-010) located

on the top of the tower may require replacement. To replace the LED on the
top of the tower, please visit your local Lionel Authorized Service Center or
Lionel Customer Service.

C

ongratulations on your purchase of the Lionel 457 WLLC Radio
Station. The Lionel Radio Station is constructed of stamped metal
and injection molded plastic and features a fully functional digital

radio with a strobing LED affixed to the top of the tower. The Radio Station
can be placed on any Lionel O or O-27 gauge three-rail layout and is
designed to operate at 12-18 volts alternating current.

Operation of your Radio Station

Operation of your Radio Station is very simple. After you have installed

and wired your Radio Station, the LED on the top of the tower will begin
strobing when power is supplied. This is to indicate that power is going to
your Radio Station. This is also used to protect your Radio Station from low
flying aircraft.

To begin using the radio inside of your station, you must begin by turn-

ing on the radio. The knob located on the left is your ON/OFF and volume
control knob. By rotating this knob clockwise, the radio will click on and
the radio channel will show on the digital screen. You can increase the vol-
ume of the sound by continuing to rotate this knob clockwise. The knob
located on the right is used to tune in your favorite radio channel. The dig-
ital screen will show you the channels as you scan through them. The
switch located between these two knobs will change the mode between AM
and FM. Your digital screen will also show you whether you are in AM or
FM mode. You are now ready to crank out the tunes from your favorite
radio station direct to your layout.

NOTE: If you experience a weak signal due to the location of your layout,
we recommend that you attach a wire from the stamped metal tower to a
higher area of your layout. This will help to increase the strength of the sig-
nal in your area.
