Dolby Digital EX
Dolby Digital EX creates six full-bandwidth output channels from 5.1-channel
sources. This is done using a matrix decoder that derives three surround channels
from the two in the original recording. For best results, Dolby Digital EX should
be used with movie soundtracks recorded with Dolby Digital Surround EX.
Powered Zone 2 Capability
Unlike other receivers, you don’t need an external amplifier to enjoy a stereo
audio source (radio, CD, MD, LP or cassette) in the main room, while at the
same time your partner listens to a different stereo source in another room.
Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry
To produce volume at low levels, conventional volume attenuation methods must
initially drop a signal close to the noise floor. This often taints the signal with
a small amount of noise, which becomes amplified when the signal is amplified.
Onkyo’s Optimum Gain Volume Cirucuitry solves this problem by adjusting the
gain so that less than half the typical amount of attenuation is needed. This
ensures that the signal never comes close to the noise floor, and thereby
eliminates the possibility of noise contamination that plagues conventional
volume-attenuation designs.
Color-Coded Speaker Terminals
No more worries about which speaker wire goes to which speaker terminal.
The TX-SR700 features color-coded speaker terminals that allow you to easily
connect the correct wire to the correct terminal. Simply attach the color-coded
label to the speaker cable, attach the cable to the same colored speaker terminal
for fast speaker connection.
CinemaFILTER
The tonal balance of a film soundtrack will be edgy and “bright” when played
back over audio equipment in your home because film soundtracks are
designed to be played back in large theaters using different equipment. Onkyo
had developed its own enhancement that restores the correct tonal balance
for watching a movie soundtrack in your smaller home theater.
Crossover Adjustment for Bass Management
Previously crossover frequency was fixed at 80 Hz. With Crossover Adjustment,
you can set the frequency at 80/100 or 120 Hz depending on your speakers’
bass playback ability. This lets you more accurately match the performance
characteristics of the subwoofer to your front speakers.
Outstanding Value
The TX-SR700 offers the performance of high-end receivers at a fraction of
the price by sharing many of the same precision parts (heat sink, bus bars, metal
work, etc.) and circuit design (WRAT, Non-Scaling Configuration, high-current
low-impedance drive) as its more expensive siblings. This drastically reduces
tooling costs, and the savings are passed on.
