Roles and workflow

Tasks in SPM can be logically broken out into two categories: administrative tasks and consumer
tasks. By default, SPM defines three different roles to handle the administrative tasks: storage
administrator, storage architect and storage operator. People who fulfill these roles are responsible
for setting up and managing the storage resources in the SPM catalog, defining provisioning policy
and configuring security. SPM also defines a single consumer role by default whose primary task
is to request storage from SPM. The primary tasks, the associated roles, and the order in which
tasks are performed are as follows:

NOTE:

For an explanation of the use models, see

Data storage and SPM

.

NOTE:

In addition to these roles, the following roles are defined in order to facilitate use of SPM

with Matrix OE: Matrix Architect, Matrix Administrator, Matrix Service and Matrix User.
