Launching Cache Residency

To use Cache Residency, first log on to the primary SVP. For detailed instructions on the login
process, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console User Guide.

If you successfully log on to the primary SVP, the Remote Web Console main window opens (see

“Remote Web Console Main Window, Identity Tab” (page 11)

). Click Go, Cache Residency

Manager, and then Cache Residency on the menu bar of the Remote Web Console main window
to open the Cache Residency window (see

“Cache Residency Window (Open-systems LDEV

selected)” (page 20)

and

“Cache Residency Window (Mainframe LDEV selected)” (page 20)

).

Note: When you open the Remote Web Console main window, you are in view mode. To make
changes to the Cache Residency settings, you must select modify mode. For further information on
changing to modify mode, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console

Required Cache Size for Cache Residency

The required cache size for Cache Residency differs according to the operation mode, or the RAID
