LUN Security XP Extension for the XP128/XP1024/XP10000/XP12000

Cache LUN XP: If you use Cache LUN XP to set a VMA to the volumes, part of the user data might not

be cached because VMA data is cached. When you use Cache LUN XP to set a VMA to the volume,

check the Cache LUN XP settings and change them if necessary. For more information about changing

Cache LUN XP settings, see the HP StorageWorks Cache LUN XP User Guide for the specific disk array.

RAID Manager: If you use RAID Manager to change a volume’s access attribute when you use LUN

Security XP Extension, you cannot use LUN Security XP Extension to change the volume’s access

attribute. If you attempt to use LUN Security XP Extension to change the volume’s access attribute, an

error occurs. If an error occurs, click Refresh, and retry the access attribute change.

Products that can start automatically at a specified time: Certain products, such as Auto LUN

Monitoring, start automatically at specified times. If a product that can start automatically is enabled,

you must perform LUN Security XP Extension operations when the program is not running or cancel the

program’s start time setting.

Local disk array copy software users:

NOTE:

The following information applies only if you want to set Volume Management Area

(VMA). You can set VMA only to logical volumes with an OPEN-V emulation type. For more

information, see ”

Setting VMA

” on page 20.

• When you create a Business Copy XP, Continuous Access XP, or Continuous Access XP Journal pair,

you can only use volumes without VMAs for both the P-VOL and S-VOL, or use volumes with VMAs

for both the P-VOL and S-VOL.

• For a Business Copy XP, Continuous Access XP, or Continuous Access XP Journal pair, if the P-VOL

and S-VOL contain a VMA, you can copy the access attribute and S-VOL Disable setting in the

VMA from the P-VOL to the S-VOL. The copied access attribute and S-VOL Disable setting do not

take effect on the S-VOL when the pair status is PAIR. To make the copied access attribute effective,

change the Business Copy XP pair status to PSUS, or change the Continuous Access XP or

Continuous Access XP Journal pair status to PSUS or SMPL. To make the copied S-VOL Disable

setting effective, change the Business Copy XP pair status to PSUS, or change the Continuous

Access XP or Continuous Access XP Journal pair status to SMPL. For more information about

changing pair statuses and copying access attributes, see the HP StorageWorks Business Copy XP

user guide, the HP StorageWorks Continuous Access XP user guide, or the HP StorageWorks

Continuous Access XP Journal user guide for the specific disk array.

CAUTION:

If you change a Business Copy XP pair status to PSUS and the S-VOL Disable setting

takes effect on the S-VOL, the pair cannot be resynchronized.

• To set access attributes on logical volumes with VMA that are specified as logical volumes of the

pair of the local disk array copy software, you need enough license capacity for the logical volume

you are changing and for other logical volumes forming the pair. In

Figure 2

, LUN Security XP

Extension changes logical volume A’s access attribute, which has a capacity of 2 GB. In this case,

because logical volume A forms a pair with logical volume B, LUN Security XP Extension requires
