L 524 and L 556

Solution

In addition to an L 566, which is used in a gravel quarry, Max
Bögl opted for four additional Liebherr wheel loaders to carry
out this challenging work. The company chose to purchase
two L 524 and two L 556 wheel loaders. These Liebherr wheel
loaders support the specialist underground engineering team.

Working at depths means that groundwater is always a problem.
This is where the Liebherr wheel loaders, with their permanent
four-wheel drive and automatic self-locking differential from 0 to
45 %, come into their own. This takes some of the pressure off the
drivers who can instead concentrate fully on the tasks in hand.
The hydrostatic driveline on the L 524 and L 556 wheel loaders
allows the diesel engine to be installed sideways at the rear of
the machine. This acts as a natural counterbalance, making it
possible to achieve a higher tipping load with lower operating
weight. It also reduces fuel consumption and is better for the
environment.

The location of the cooling system is also beneficial. It is located
in the cleanest part of the machine directly behind the cab. This
means that it is able to suck in air with a low level of dust. This
reduces the number of cleaning intervals required by up to
eight times in comparison to competitors’ wheel loaders, where
the fans are located at the rear of the machine. The Liebherr
wheel loaders also impress when it comes to service and
maintenance. All day-to-day maintenance parts of the L 524
and L 556 wheel loaders can be easily and safely reached from
ground level. This saves time and money in terms of day-to-day
maintenance. The drivers are also happy with the performance
of the Liebherr wheel loaders, which now account for an extra
five Liebherr machines in Max Bögl’s fleet.
