Eb6d preventative maintenance, Important, Seat lubrication
Seat Lubrication
The EB6D butterfly valves utilize a high-frictional coefficient seat material. This could result in high
torque required to open or close the valve; especially if the valve seat is dry. In the event of a high
torque scenario, the controller may exceed its amperage limit. If this limit is exceeded, the controller
will shut down to prevent permanent damage and the two center LEDs on the controller will flash. In
order to prevent this behavior, it is recommended that the valve seat be lubricated with a thin layer of
Parker Super-O-Lube or equivalent every three months.
Important:
It is imperative that only silicone based grease is utilized. The use of
non-silicone grease may cause permanent damage to the seat.
In order to apply the grease, open the valve fully and spread a thin layer on the entire inside diameter
of the seal (see image below). The frequency of lubrication may vary based on specific valve use. Weekly
operational inspections should be performed to ensure excellent reliability and long term service. Always
test the valves with the truck motor running. If there are any questions regarding the servicing of these
valves, please contact Elkhart Brass at 1-574-295-8330.
