Selecting Items in a Table
To select items in a table using the mouse
To select... Do this...
any text
Position the mouse pointer at the beginning of a text block and click and hold down the
mouse button as you drag over the text you want to select.
single cell Click next to the left edge of a cell.
single column
Position the mouse pointer just above the top of the column you want to select. When the
insertion point cursor changes to a down arrow cursor, click the mouse button once.
single row
Position the mouse pointer just left of the row you want to select. When the insertion point
cursor changes to an arrow cursor, click the mouse button once.
Or, move the cursor next to the left edge of any cell in the row and double-click.
entire table Move the mouse point next to the left edge of any cell and triple-click.
multiple cells
Click next to the left edge of a cell and hold down the mouse button while you drag the
mouse to select the desired cells.
multiple columns
Move the mouse pointer to just above the top of the first column. When the insertion point
cursor changes to a down arrow cursor, hold down the mouse button and drag to select the
desired columns.
multiple rows
Move the mouse pointer to the left of the first row, hold down the mouse button, and drag to
select the desired rows.
To select items in a table using menu commands
To select... Do this...
single row
Position the cursor (insertion point) anywhere in the row you want to select. Click Table
from the menu bar and select Select Row.
single column
Move the cursor to the column you want to select. Click Table from the menu bar and select
Select Column.
entire table
Locate the cursor anywhere in the table you want to select. Click Table from the menu bar
and select Select Table.
