2. Changing and canceling events

Changing the registered time code value

q Place the cursor on the column of the time code you want to change.

w Playback the VCR, and at the position you want to change enter the still

mode.

e Press the “|” key on the keyboard, or select the TC SET on the screen,

then press the “Enter” key.
● The time code is changed.

Changing the ACTION item or the MENU item

q Place the cursor on the column of the item you want to change.

w Press the “Enter” key on the keyboard.

● The current setting value is underlined.

e The setting for the item can be changed while it is underlined. Change the

setting using the cursor keys and the “Enter” key.

Canceling 1 event

q Move the cursor to the event position you want to cancel.

w Press the “DEL” key on the keyboard, or select the TC CANCEL item on

the screen, then press the “Enter” key.
● The selected event will be canceled.

Canceling all events

Press the “DEL” key on the keyboard while holding down the “SHIFT” key.
● All events are canceled.

Move events down new position, to register an event in the

place vacated

q Move the cursor to the position you want to move down by one place.

w Press the “INS” key on the keyboard.

● The events on and after the selected position are moved down by one

place.

e A new event can be registered in the vacant place.

3. Setting the optimum bit rate according to the remaining space on the disc

This is for setting the optimum bit rate (data quantity per second) to suit the
disc remaining volume by determining the total duration for all events (total
recording time).
● The total duration for all events (total recording time) is displayed in the

TOTAL DURATION item.

● A measure of the current disc remaining time is displayed in the DISC

REMAIN item.

q To set the bit rate to suit the disc remaining time, place the cursor on the

ADJ item on the screen, and press the “Enter” key on the keyboard.
● The set bit rate is displayed in the BITRATE item on the screen.

4. Starting to record

q Press the “SPACE” key on the keyboard, or select the EDIT/END item on

the screen, then press the “Enter” key.
● The VCR goes to a position about 5 seconds before the edit start position

and starts playback.

● At the same time as the VCR reaches the edit start position this machine

will start recording.
While recording, “RECORDING” is displayed.

● When the position where a chapter is registered is reached a chapter

mark will be applied.

● The event that is being executed will be displayed at the “>” mark on

the left.

w When the event OUT point is reached, the following is carried out,

depending upon the ACTION item setting for the event.
ⅥWhen the OUT point of an event for which the ACTION item is set to

PAUSE is reached, the following operations are carried out.
● This machine enters the recording pause state.

● The VCR goes to a position about 5 seconds before the next start

edit point, and starts to playback.

● At the same time that the VCR reaches the edit start point this machine

starts recording.

ⅥWhen the ACTION item for the final event is set to PAUSE, editing

finishes when the OUT point of the final event is reached, and the
following operations are carried out.
● The VCR automatically stops.

● This machine automatically stops, and the chapter menu thumbnail

edit screen is displayed. (When the DVD MENU TYPE item of the
RECORDER (2/2) screen is set to TOP+MENU, and the EDIT MENU
item of the SYSTEM menu screen is set to ENABLE)

ⅥWhen the OUT point of an event for which the ACTION item is set to

STOP is reached, editing finished and the following operations are carried
out.
● The VCR automatically stops.

● This machine automatically stops, and the title close process is

executed. (The thumbnail edit screen is not displayed.)

5. Saving event data

Event data can be saved as an edit list (EDL) on the EDL MANAGER screen
of this machine.
Also, an edit list registered on the EDL manager screen can be read into the
event register list of the REMOTE CONTROL screen.
ⅥSelect the EDL item on the screen, press the “Enter” key and the EDL

MANAGER screen will be displayed.

To suspend recording

While recording, press the “SPACE” key on the
keyboard, or select the EDIT/END item on the
screen, then press the “Enter” key and the
recording will be suspended.

Notes

● IN point editing accuracy is ± 5 frames.

OUT point and chapter point editing accuracy
is ± 20 frames.

● In the chapter auto mode, chapters are

created at fixed time intervals.

6. Finishing recording

ⅥTo playback the recorded disc on another DVD player, select the FINALIZE

item, and press the “Enter” key.

ⅥSelect the EXIT item on the screen, press the “Enter” key, and the REMOTE

CONTROL screen will disappear.

ⅥTo remove a disc from this machine, press the OPEN/CLOSE button on

this machine.
