Troubleshooting

If you intend to perform detailed troubleshooting on your Dynacalibrator,
please first read the section entitled “Advanced Theory of Operation” which
starts on page 27. The flow diagrams and electrical drawings included there will
provide significant help. Most gas flow problems can be isolated to a particular
component, using a low-pressure air source and a magnihelic pressure gauge. A
volt-ohmmeter is adequate for checking the ma jority of the electrical circuits.

Electrical Troubleshooting

While no user serviceable parts are inside the Dynacalibrator, the following short
table allows some troubleshooting which may precede the need for service at
the factory. The list of symptoms are rare occurrences but are included as an aid.

Always completely disconnect main power from the
Dynacalibrator and make sure that the pump is no longer
running before reaching inside the unit.

Symptoms

Recommended repair actions

Main power indicator does not light

when depressed. Fan and pump

do not start.

1. Check power cord and convenience outlet
2. Check the main circuit breaker, and reset if tripped. Continued trip-

ping of the breaker indicates larger problems. (See below)

3. Check MAIN power switch.

Main power indicator does not light

when depressed. Fan and pump

start.

1. Check indicator light.
2. Check power transformer.

Main circuit breaker continuously

fails.

1. Unplug connectors to main pump and all solenoid control valves.
2. Reset circuit breaker CB1 and turn main power on.
3. If CB1 trips, check front panel wiring, power transformer, and fan

for shorts or grounds.

4. If CB1 does not trip, reconnect components one at a time until a

component causes it to trip.

5. Replace component that caused CB1 to flip.

Heater power indicator does not

light when depressed with main

power on.

1. Check heater power switch and indicator light.

Heater circuit breaker CB2

continuously fails.

1. Contact factory to acquire RMA.

Repair/replacement of the block thermistors, the proportional temperature controller, or the temperature control

potentiometer must be done at VICI, since such replacements necessitate a new temperature calibration.
