This chapter describes how to use the SP GUI to perform redirection and remote
control.
10.1
About the Remote Console Software and
Redirection
When you install Solaris™, Linux, or Microsoft Windows software on this server, the
installation manager also copies operating system-specific drivers and applications
from the Resource CD to the system hard drive.
To enable console redirection, the ILOM web GUI launches the Java™ Remote
Console application. Remote Console is a piece of layered software that enables
remote clients to view the graphical console of the server as though they were
connected directly to the video, mouse, and keyboard of the server. Remote Console
software is implemented using an OS-specific Java application that is invoked by
Java Web Start. You need to install the Java runtime environment Version 5.0 or later
on the remote client to enable the client to run Java Remote Console. You can
