If Many-to-Many Connections Link HBAs and Ports
Figure 8 on page 30 is an example of a network on which a production server and a development
server are connected to the storage system. (Henceforth, this network is referred to as network B). The
HBA (wwn01) in the production server is connected to four ports (1A, 1C, 2A and 2C). The HBAs
(wwn02 and wwn03) in the development server are also connected to the four ports.

If many-to-many connections are established between HBAs and ports, take the following major steps:
1. Find WWNs of HBAs. Before using XP Performance Control, you must find the WWN of each
HBA for each host server. WWNs are 16-digit hexadecimal numbers used to identify HBAs. For
details on how to find WWNs, see HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Auto LUN Manager
User’s Guide.
2. Ensure that all HBAs connected to ports in the storage system are monitored. Use the WWN tab
of the Performance Control window to define which port is connected to which HBA. Place icons
for HBAs connected to each port below the Monitor icons.
In network B, each of the four ports is connected to three HBAs (wwn01, wwn02, and wwn03).
Place the HBA icons of wwn01, wwn02, and wwn03 below the Monitor icons for all the four
port icons (shown in
Figure 9 on page 31).
