7 Troubleshooting
General Troubleshooting Procedures
If you have a problem with the storage system or Remote Web Console Java applet
program, see the HP StorageWorks XP12000 storage system and HP StorageWorks XP
Remote Web Console user guide for HP XP12000/XP10000 Disk Arrays and SVS 200 for
troubleshooting information. If an Siz error code or message is displayed on the storage system,

NOTE:
Make sure to copy the storage system configuration information onto floppy disks) using the FD Dump
Tool, and give the floppy disk(s) to HP account team. See the HP StorageWorks XP12000 storage system

Error
Corrective Action
The Remote Web Console hangs, or Siz operations
do not function properly.
Make sure all Siz requirements and restrictions are
met.
Make sure the XP12000/XP10000 storage system is
powered on and fully functional (NVS, cache, DFW).
See the User and Reference Guide (for XP12000
or XP10000 storage system) for operational and
troubleshooting information.
Check all input values and parameters to make sure
that you entered the correct information on the Siz
dialog boxes (e.g., S-VOL and T VOL IDs).
The volume pairs are not displaying correctly.
Make sure the correct CU image is selected.
An Siz error message is displayed on the Remote
Web Console.
See “

” on page 116 for a description of the error
code.
There is a problem with the Remote Web Console.
Save the Java log file on the Remote Web Console,
and report to the HP technical support.
For Windows 2000, the Java log file is in the
following place: c:\Documents and Settings\login
user ID\plugin131.trace.
Exit the Web browser, close all other applications,
and then restart the PC. If the problem persists, verify
that the PC’s operating system and LAN hardware
and software are properly configured.
There is a pinned track on a Siz volume.
If a pinned track occurs on an Siz S-VOL or T-VOL,
the storage system suspends the pair. Contact your
HP account team for assistance in recovering pinned
tracks.
