the weight of the coins. When pouring coins into the dispenser, you must direct the coins at this inclined
plane to protect the moving parts at the bottom of the hopper. Follow the instructions below to fill the
coin hopper.
1. Open the door and vault of the Portal TI.
2. Remove the appropriate hopper.
3. Pour the replacement coins into the large opening at the top of the hopper assembly.
Remember to direct the coins toward the inclined plane.
4. When the coin level is close to 600 - 1200 coins, begin to add coins by hand. Using this
method, coins will tend to slide into the dispensing wheel more easily, which will reduce the
possibility of clogs and jams.
10.8.3 Changing the Dispense Value

Note:
The Portal TI is shipped with the equipment required to modify the hopper to dispense the
dollar coin.
If you want your unit to dispense the dollar coin, the coin-hopper must be modified to accommodate the
larger coin. The dispense value of the Portal TI must also be changed to match the value of the dollar coin.
The default value for this function is $.25. See the Coin Dispenser Setup for information on programming
the Portal TI to dispense dollar coins.

Use the following procedures to modify the hopper to dispense the dollar coin:

1. Remove the coin hopper by grasping it by the handle at the top and lifting up and forward.
Remove the hopper from of the hopper cage.
2. Remove the three screws holding the hopper coin bucket in place.
