12.

Remove the four sets of nuts and bolts that hold
the steering wheel bracket to the frame using a
pair of 9/16” wrenches. See Figure 4.86.

13.

Lift the bracket off of the vehicle.
See Figure 4.87.

If the steering shaft is to be removed, disconnect
it from the splined input shaft of the steering gear
box by removing the clamp bolt on the lower uni-
versal joint of the steering shaft. Use a pair of 9/
16” wrenches. See Figure 4.88.

NOTE: The clamp bolt is easily reached through
the opening that was created by removing the
dash panel and the parcel bin that is molded into
the dash panel.

15.

Pull the steering shaft up and out of the vehicle.
