17.

Compress the springs, pushing the pistons into
the bore using the push rod. See Figure 6.56.

18.

Secure the push rod and retaining plate by
installing the snap ring.

NOTE: Use a new snap ring if the original shows
signs of stress.

19.

Install the dust seal over the push rod.

20.

Install the jam nut, and yoke to the position
marked in the disassembly process.

21.

Lubricate and install the bushings that seal the
reservoir to the master cylinder, and secure the
reservoir using the phillips head screws.

22.

Install the master cylinder in the vehicle as
described the MASTER CYLINDER section of
this chapter.

22a. Bleed the brakes as described in the

BRAKE FLUID FLUSHING AND BLEED-
ING section of this chapter.

22b. Test the operation of the braking system in

a safe place before returning the vehicle
to service.
