Elite Race™ Lifters

Thank you for choosing COMP Cams® products; we are proud to be your manufacturer of choice.
Please read this instruction sheet carefully before beginning installation, and also take a moment to
review the included limited warranty information.

Pre-Installation

1. The lifters need to be cleaned in mineral spirits or parts washing solvent first to remove any

debris from shipping or handling.

Warning: The wheel needle bearings are pre-greased with special OE grease, while cleaning
be careful to NOT blow out this grease for this is very vital to initial break-in. Also do NOT
clean with aerosol cleaners! And do NOT allow the wheel to be spun by compressed air.

2. The lifters need to be visually inspected for burrs, dings and debris that may have occurred

during shipping, also verify the pushrod seat o-ring is installed.

Also check to ensure that the wheel rolls smoothly.

3. Next, soak the lifters with COMP Cams® Break-In Oil (Part #1590) or equivalent for two

hours or more.

Installation

1. Verify that the link bar is oriented correctly – the arrow should point up and the link bar should

face the middle of the engine.

Note: Some uncommon applications may have opposite facing link bars; verify the
orientation for your application prior to installation.

2. Check to ensure that the pushrod seat is oriented correctly for your application, making sure

offsets are to the correct side.

Also, verify that the pushrod seat is firmly seated in the lifter (bottomed out) before inserting
the lifters into the bore.

3. Once installed, verify that the axle is parallel to the camshaft centerline as shown on the next

page.
