• Intelligent Diagnostics Module Premium (IDM Premium)

Many errors are first indicated by a lit error LED on the diagnostic panel of the server. If an LED is lit, one or
more LEDs elsewhere in the server might also be lit to direct you to the source of the error. See “System
board LEDs” on page 59.

Intelligent Diagnostics Module

The Intelligent Diagnostics Module (IDM) is available in some models to provide basic diagnostic functions.
The following illustration shows the diagnostic LEDs on the IDM panel.

Figure 12. IDM panel

• When the power supply error LED or system fan error LED is off, it indicates that the power supply or

system fan is working correctly. When the ambient temperature limit LED, memory module status LED,
or microprocessor status LED is off, it indicates that the server, memory module, or microprocessor
is operating at a normal temperature.

• When one error LED is lit in amber, it indicates potential errors. Check the information in the following

table for potential errors and corresponding solutions.

Solution

1

Power supply error

LED

Solid on (amber)

The power supply is likely to fail
or has failed.

Check the BMC for errors and
run the diagnostic programs. See
“Using a diagnostic program” on
page 204
.
Note: To identify the failing power
supply, check the status LED
near the power cord connector
on the redundant power supply.

2

Ambient temperature

limit LED

Solid on (amber)

The ambient temperature is below
7°C (44.6°F) or over 40°C (104°F).

Check the BMC for errors and
run the diagnostic programs. See
“Using a diagnostic program” on
page 204
.

3

System fan error LED

Solid on (amber)

One or more system fans are
running at low speed or have
been removed.

Check the BMC for errors and
run the diagnostic programs. See
“Using a diagnostic program” on
page 204
.
Note: To identify the failing
system fans, check the status
LEDs on the system board. See
“System board LEDs” on page
59.
