Antenna
Installation

Before mounting the PF3000 Pro on your vehicle, the user should test the
system in the planned installation location. Follow the general mounting
guidelines below for mounting the GPS antenna.

Make sure the GPS antenna is in the middle of the vehicle.

Generally, the antenna should be the highest point on the vehicle.

Keep the antenna away from “electrical noise” sources, such as a cab
fan motor or the engine compartment.

To aid in determining “electrical noise” sources, turn on all accessories or
features of the vehicle that use electrical power, examples being lights,
air-conditioners, etc.

Use the Differential Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR) to aid in determining
the best location for mounting the antenna.

In order to determine your Differential SNR while installing your antenna,
the GPS Diagnostic screen must be on the PF3000 Pro. To view this
screen:

Step

Action

1

Plug antenna jack into GPS unit.

2

Press the Menu key until DIAG is displayed and press DIAG
Key.

3

Press GPS key. NOTE: An example of the GPS Diagnostic
screen is shown on next page.

4

If the Differential SNR drops below 6 or is lost completely,
move the antenna to a location where the signal is not as
affected by the interference. Moving the antenna
horizontally or vertically between 1 to 3 ft will usually
eliminate the problem.

5

Once you have completed positioning your antenna push
EXIT key.
