Faulty controller.

Speedometer will not
work (other instrument
cluster gauges and
lights ok).

Faulty speed sensor.

Faulty speedometer.

Note: Pin locations are
numbered on back of
connector.

Faulty wire.

Faulty controller.

Test sensor. Refer to Section 5.
Replace if needed.

Raise and support rear of vehicle with
wheels off ground. Remove instrument
cluster and unplug connector on rear of
cluster. Connect a multimeter that has
a frequency function to pins 11 and 12
of the harness connector and set the
meter to the Hz position. Turn ignition
switch to “high” position.

Gradually depress accelerator pedal
while observing meter. The frequency
should rise as the pedal is depressed
until it reaches about 677 Hz at the top
speed of 12 mph.

If frequency reading is ok, replace
instrument cluster.

If frequency reading is not ok, then
check continuity of wire to controller.

If no continuity, repair or replace wire
harness as needed.

If continuity, replace controller.

One or more instrument
cluster LED indicators
not working.

Note: Make sure the
activation for the
indicator light is
working properly.
Examples – park brake,
switch working, charger
plugged in and working,
headlights on and
working.

Faulty indicator.

Set parking brake. Remove instrument
cluster from dash. Turn ignition switch
to an on position.

With connector plugged into cluster,
jump from pin 12 to the corresponding
pin of the indicator to be tested with a
paper clip or stiff wire.
