6.

Install the cam shaft by:

6a.

Pre-lube the cam shaft with clean 10W-30
motor oil or engine assembly lube.

6b.

Rotate the crank shaft until the timing mark
points to the tappets.

6c.

Insert the cam shaft while aligning the timing
marks. See Figure 10.30.

7.

If removed, install the governor arm by following the
steps described in Chapter 4: Fuel systems and Gov-
ernor.

8.

Install the sump by:

8a.

If removed, install the governor gear and cup by
following the steps described in Chapter 4: Fuel
system and Governor.

8b.

Place a new gasket on the sump, letting the
alignment dowels hold it in place.

8c.

Using a seal protector, slide the sump on to the
crank shaft. See Figure 10.31.

8d.

Rock sump until it seats fully against the cylin-
der block.

8e.

Install the sump bolts and tighten to a torque of
89 in-lbs (10 Nm).

NOTE: Use a star torque pattern to tighten the sump bolts.
