The speed effects are applied to the multiclip. The Change Speed dialog adjusts both the
video and any linked audio. Depending on the settings you chose, the clip may be
extended or shortened in the Timeline, and those changes may be rippled throughout
the sequence.

Working with Multiclips and Speed Effects

Keep the following restrictions in mind when you work with multiclips and speed effects:

• Multiclips cannot be created from speed-modified clips.

• Multiclips allow constant speed changes only.

• When a multiclip is displayed in the Viewer, all angles reflect the speed of the active

angle.

• A standard switch between angles will remove any speed effects. To retain the speed

effect, use the Switch Video with Effect command.

You cannot apply variable speed effects (speed segments) to an entire multiclip, nor to
any of its component camera angle clips. However, you can export a clip with variable
speed effects and then import that file and add it to a multiclip.

To include a camera angle clip with a variable speed effect

1

Apply a variable speed effect to a clip.

2

Export the clip as a QuickTime movie.

3

Import the clip.

4

Add the imported clip to the multiclip.
