5. Place the load cell up to the actuator, orienting the accelerometer and load cell cable connectors to the
rear of the load unit, so that when connected to the frame, the cables do not wind around the load cell
and become disconnected.
6. Align the four holes, and using the hex key, turn the bolts clockwise to tighten. If necessary, raise the
crosshead so you have enough space to work between the crosshead and table.
7. Torque the four load cell bolts to specifications. Do not manipulate the other four potted bolts which
hold the load cell together.
8. Using a small flathead screwdriver, attach the accelerometer cable from the load cell to the bottom of
the crosshead in the slot labeled “Accel”.
9. Using a small flathead screwdriver, attach the load cell cable to the bottom of the crosshead in the slot
labeled “Force Transducer”.
Mounting a Load Cell on the Table
Important:
When mounting the load cell, ensure that the cables are properly routed and restrained to prevent
abrasion and so that the actuator can attain full travel without stressing the cable ends.
1. If not already attached, attach the accelerometer cable to the load cell in the slot marked “Acceleration”
using the quick-disconnect plug.
2. If not already attached, attach the load cell cable to the slot marked “Load” using the quick-disconnect
plug.
3. Lubricate the four load cell mounting/adapter bolts.
4. If necessary, raise the crosshead so you have enough space to work between the crosshead and table:
a) Move the left and right crosshead locks to the fully unlocked position.
b) Press the Exclusive Control button on the frame-mounted control. Using the crosshead control
buttons on the frame-mounted control, move the crosshead up so there is enough space in which
to mount the spring platens.
c) Move the left and right crosshead locks to the fully locked position.
5. Place the load cell on the table top orienting the accelerometer and load cell cable connectors to the
rear of the load unit so that when connected to the frame, the cables do not wind around the load cell
and become damaged or disconnected.
6. Align the four holes of the load cell with those in the table top. Insert the bolts into the top of the load
cell and, using the hex key, turn the bolts clockwise to tighten. If necessary, raise the crosshead so
you have enough space between the crosshead and table. To raise the crosshead, press the crosshead
up button on the frame-mounted control.
