Disables the Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), Rapid Spanning Tree (RSTP), or the Spanning
Tree Protocol (STP) globally.
Synopsis shutdown

Defaults STP is not required in a loop-free topology and is not enabled by default.

Description Use this command to disable the MSTP, RSTP, or STP protocol globally.

This command has no usage guidelines.
Examples To disable STP globally:
switch(config)#protocol spanning-tree rstp
switch(conf-rstp)#shutdown
To enable STP globally:
switch(config)#protocol spanning-tree rstp
switch(conf-rstp)#no shutdown
