System Cabling
Overview
The Kayenne XL system uses Ethernet, serial, and USB connections. Tally
and GPI I/O (General Purpose Interface Input/Output) control are also
available. A simple Kayenne XL system consisting of a Control Panel and
Video Processor frame does not require connection to an external Ethernet
Local Area Network (LAN). The video processor frame incorporates an
Ethernet switch for this purpose.
There are two AC power supply inputs to the frame. If the redundant
power supply option is installed, power can be provided by one or both
line cords to two different AC circuits.
Network Cabling
Network communications is required between the Kayak HD Video Pro-
cessor Frame and the Kayenne XL Panel Control Unit PCU. The PCU acts
as an intermediary for network communications between (see
) the Kayenne XL Control Panel Stripes (including the Local Aux
panel), and the Kayenne XL Menu Panels.
Ethernet Switches
A Kayenne XL system requires a LAN when components other than a
Control Panel and Video Processor frame are connected, or when external
network access to a file system is desired. An appropriately-sized Ethernet
switch may be required. An existing facility Ethernet switch (not hub) can
support Kayenne XL if an adequate number of ports are available.
