Summary of Main Error codes

The following table provides general guidelines about main error codes and steps that you can take to

remedy the problem. Using the above example, you would look up 8C in the table to see what action

you could take. The table does not include any information about suberror codes, as this is mainly

relevant for service engineers.
A more complete description of each error code and possible solution is provided in a separate document

(English only), which can be found on the HP StorageWorks CD-ROM supplied with the product or the HP

web site,

Parameter settings have failed on

one of the robotic components

Power cycle the unit and retry.

89, 8A, 8B, 8C, 8D, 8E, 8F, 90,

91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98,

99, 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D, 9E, 9F, A0

There is a problem with one of the

robotic components, such as an

obstruction or unexpected range

of movement

Run the Wellness Test from the

Support menu.

B0, B1, B2

There is a communication error

between the library controller and

the robotic controller

Reset the unit and retry the

operation.

B3

Robot stopped due to a released

magazine

Check if the magazine is

completely inserted and retry

the operation.

B4

"Tape in gripper" sensor did not

report the expected value.

Remove and inspect the

magazine involved for a stuck

tape.

Run the Wellness Test from the

Support menu.

B5

There is a communication error

between the library controller and

the robotic controller

Reset the unit and retry the

operation.

D0

There is a ROM checksum error

during firmware upgrade

Cycle power on the autoloader

and attempt the operation

again.

or memory error

and attempt the operation

There is an error on the drive fan,

fan motion has stopped

The autoloader reports on the

status of the external fan for the

drive; it does not check the fan for

the power supply.

Check that the drive fan is

operational and not obstructed.
