Periodic maintenance procedures must be performed on the ITC AVOXimeter 4000 in order to
assure consistent efficient performance or to repair/replace user-serviceable components.

Inspect and clean the exterior of the instrument as required. Remove residual dried blood or
other foreign matter using a water-dampened cloth.

Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance as described in t

his manual.

CAUTION: Maintenance procedures involving opening the instrument are only to be
conducted after assuring that the AC adapter has been disconnected from both the
instrument and a source of AC power.

All maintenance procedures performed on the instrument should be documented in order to
comply with requirements for laboratory quality assurance.

1.

Using rubber bands or adhesive tape, attach the bulb end of the thermometer to
the circular disk at the end of the ITC AVOXimeter 4000 temperature probe.

2.

Ensure that the probe and the thermometer are in a thermally stable environment
and not in air currents.

3.

Start the instrument.

4.

Wait ten minutes.

5.

Display the battery status screen (page 14).

6.

Record the temperatures displayed on the battery status screen. Then read the
thermometer and record it as well.

7.

If the ITC AVOXimeter 4000 temperature reading is within ± 3°C of the NIST
traceable thermometer, the ITC AVOXimeter 4000 is properly calibrated. If the
ITC AVOXimeter 4000

differs from the thermometer by more than 3°C, call ITC
