The ‘D’/White input can be used to disable scans of the RTC schedules when the input is opened. This

can be used to stop sounds and shows from playing automatically when they shouldn’t. Examples of where
this feature can be used are:

a) In a church bell tower, where a simple switch opening can be used to temporarily disable bells from

ringing during a service.

b) In a Theme Park or museum, where this input can be tied to the existing power management grid

to disable scheduled shows and sounds when the attraction is closed.

If you have a show or sound which should not be interrupted by a scheduled event. You can set the

show/sound so that it ‘can not’ be stepped on. The schedule may try to start a show or sound, but the re-
quest will not be honored if it has been set as ‘unsteppable’.

ʻJ6ʼ Show Control Outputs (Sd-50/40)

Forty Position IDS Connector. Each Sd-50/40 has forty outputs. This connector is used for the first

thirty-two outputs. The last eight appear on the

" J6

connector on the back of the Sd-50/40.

These ‘J6’ Show Control outputs are identical to the standard outputs used on all Gilderfluke & Com-

pany Show Control Systems. Forty and ten position transition connectors are available for the Sd-50/8s or
Sd-50/40s to adapt the ribbon cables to screw terminals, and are included in the ‘starter kit’.

The output connections for all Gilderfluke & Company Show Control Systems are through ‘J6’ output

cables. These are forty wire ribbon cables which are made up of four identical eight-bit wide ‘channels’. A
‘J6’ cable is often split up into four individual channels. Each ‘" J6’ ribbon cable is made up of ten wires,
and can be used to control eight individual ‘digital’ (off/on) devices, or one eight-bit wide ‘analog’ device.
Each group of ten wires also includes a common power supply and ground wire.

To simplify wiring to any Gilderfluke animation system, the connectors used on the ‘

" J6

’ cables are

what are called ‘insulation displacement’ (IDS) connectors. These simply snap on to an entire cable, auto-
matically ‘displacing’ the wire insulation and making contact with the wires within. This means that an entire
ten wire cable can be terminated in seconds. All connectors are polarized, to keep them from being
plugged in backwards. Although there are tools made specifically for installing these connectors, the tool
we find works best is a small bench vise.

If attaching discrete wires from the ‘J6’ ribbon cable connector presents a problem, we have forty and

ten position transition connectors are available for the Sd-50/8s or Sd-50/40s to adapt the ribbon cables to
