5.11 Replacing the Roll Gyro
1. Disconnect the gyro cable from the in-line
connector.
2. Remove the four #4-40 screws and flat washers
securing the gyro mounting plate to the PCB
module.
3. Remove the two M2.5 screws securing the gyro to
the gyro mounting plate. Remove the old gyro.
4. Apply a drop of Loctite threadlocker to the threads
of the M2.5 screws that you removed in Step 3.
Install the new roll gyro onto the mounting plate
and secure in place with the two M2.5 screws.
5. Apply a drop of Loctite threadlocker to the threads
of the #4-40 screws that you removed in Step 2.
Reattach the gyro mounting plate to the PCB
module using the #4-40 screws.
6. Connect the new gyro cable to the in-line
connector that you disconnected in Step 1.
7. Calibrate the gyro as described in “Calibrating the
Gyros” on page 105 .
