4. Recheck chain tension. (Refer to Section 3.4.3,

“Boom Chain Tension Check.”)

5. Further chain adjustment can be achieved by

loosening all three chain locknuts
(Fig. 3-120, 1 and Fig. 3-121, 1) and moving the
rear retract chain clevis (Fig. 3-122, 1) from the
original mounting hole (2) in the anchor plate to the
next hole (3).

This is only acceptable when boom chain sag
(Fig. 3-123, 3) cannot be acquired and the chain
elongation measurement is still less than
12-3/8" (313 mm). Make sure to use a new 3/8-16
elastic locknut (4) to re-secure the chain clevis to the
anchor plate. Follow the instructions in
Section 3.4.4, a. “Component/Assembly
Verification.”

6. Recheck chain tension. (Refer to Section 3.4.3,

“Boom Chain Tension Check.”)

7. Assemble the rear cover to the rear of the outer boom.

On the rear of the outer boom (Fig. 3-124, 1), position
the rear cover (2) in place. Secure the cover in place
with the 5/16" flat washer (3), saved, 5/16" Internal
tooth lockwasher (4), saved, and thumbscrew (5),
saved. Insert the thumbscrew through the bottom of
the outer boom and into the rear cover. Tighten the
thumbscrew securely to hold the cover in place.
