9.9.6 Engine Oil Pressure Warning Indicator Troubleshooting
Repair engine
component.
Disconnect wire
16 (BRN) from oil
pressure switch and
verify that switch
contact is open.
Not OK If OK

Check engine for
oil pressure.
If
OK
Check connections at oil
pressure switch and
instrument cluster.
Repair connections
as needed.
Disconnect oil pressure
switch at harness. Turn
ignition ON and check
for grounded circuit. If
Indicator light is still on,
check wire 16 (BRN).
Refer to Section 9.7.6,
“Electrical Schematic
(Console/Stabilizer and
Engine Harnesses).”
Engine oil pressure warning
indicator stays
ON while operating.
Replace instrument cluster.

Before troubleshooting any
electrical circuit, ALWAYS
begin by checking the
following:
1. Fuses.
2. Battery for proper charge.
3. All connections relating to
circuit are clean and tight.
4. Check instrument cluster
bulbs for proper function.
Replace oil
pressure switch.
