The Configure SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c Community menu is shown
in Figure 23.

6. To configure SNMP parameters, type 1 to select Create SNMP

Community.

The following prompt is displayed:

Enter SNMP Community Name:

7. Enter an SNMP community name of up to 15 alphanumeric

characters. This parameter is case sensitive.

Note

Community names act as passwords for the SNMP protocol. Allied
Telesyn recommends that you select SNMP community names
carefully to ensure these names are known only to authorized
personnel.

The following prompt is displayed:

Enter Access Mode [R-Read Only, W-Read|Write]:

8. Enter an access mode for the SNMP community.

Choose one of the following:

R - Enter R to permit read only access to the SNMP community.

W - Enter W to permit read-write access to the SNMP community.

The following prompt is displayed:

Enter Open Access Status [Y-Yes, N-No]:
