VO

VO is inspired by classic voice modelling
methods using formant synthesis. The goal
has not been to recreate any existing voice
or speech synthesizer, but to create a new
way of building and controlling a synthetic
voice in a way that suits musicians.

VO-6

VO-6 is the VO incarnation in the Monoma-
chine. It is based around a voicing source,
gradually controllable between pulse or white
noise, formant filters and a set of internal
envelopes which combines to create a pre-
defined set of consonants and consonant-
like sounds.

A trig of VO-6 consists of a consonant and a
vowel. It starts with the selected consonant, if
any.

VOC1-2 (vocal frequency1-2) control the
vocal Frequency formant parameters. All
vowels can be reproduced in the ranges of
these two parameters.

V-SW (vowel switch) controls wheter the
vowel sounds should be turned off or not.
This is good for ending words that end on
consonants. If no consonant is selected the
vowel will be played regardless of the V-SW
setting.

VOIC (voice type) adjusts the voice type
from normal to whispering.

CONS (consonant) controls if the note trig
should start with a consonant, or a conso-
nant-like sound. If "-" is selected the sound
starts directly with a vowel.

CLEN (consonant length) controls how long
the selected consonant will be pronounced.

CVOL (consonant volume) controls the vol-
ume of the consonant. Using this parameter
it is possible to change the dynamics of the
speech, for instance making the pro-
grammed words sound more or less emo-
tional.

Not all consonants are affected by the CLEN
and the CVOL parameters; see the table
below for reference on which consonants are
affected.

TUNE (tune) sets the tune of the output.
