32 Timecode

32.1 OVERVIEW
Timecode information can be received by Clarity and used to control the playback of cues at

specific times. This allows Clarity’s playback to be perfectly synchronized with other elements
of a production that are also locked to the same Timecode.

Desktop Clarity uses MIDI timecode.

LX600 and LX900 consoles can use either SMPTE linear timecode or MIDI timecode.

32.2 TIMECODE CONFIGURATION
To configure Timecode, select Show/Timecode/Configuration…


The “Time Code Settings” dialog box opens:

The “Inputs” pane has two check boxes:

MIDI Time Code.

Selects MIDI time code.

SMPTE Enable.

Selects SMPTE (linear) time code (LX600 & LX900 consoles)

Global Enable.

Enables timecode playback from Timelines. See section 33.

Then “Input Format” can be set from the drop down box. The choices are:

Automatic.

24 Frames. For film projection rate.

25 Frames. For PAL video rate.

30 Frames – non drop. Non-drop Timecode for NTSC video rate.

30 Frames – drop frame. Drop-frame Timecode for NTSC video rate.

32.3 BIG TIME
Selecting Show/Timecode/Big Time… opens a time code reader box that displays the current

Timecode.
