CAUTION
BEFORE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES,
ENSURE THERE ARE NO SHORT CIRCUITS IN THE DIGITAL
OUTPUT WIRING WHICH COULD CAUSE THE RELAY
CONTACT CURRENT TO EXCEED 2 AMPERES.
EXCESS
RELAY CONTACT CURRENT WILL CAUSE PERMANENT AND
IRREPARABLE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT.
Following are the procedures for checking digital output wiring; refer to Section 3 for
output terminal numbers for the applicable Genesis units:
a. Ensure there is no operating power applied to the Genesis unit to be checked nor is
power applied to any of the digital output circuits.
b. If the unit to be checked does not use NC relay contacts, go Step m.
c. Start at the first device connected to the NC contacts. If the device cannot be checked
for operation by simple observation, connect a digital voltmeter across it. Set the
voltmeter range for the expected voltage.
d. Apply operating power to the output device.
e. Determine that the device is energised, either by direct observation of the device itself or
by checking that the voltmeter indicates full operating voltage.
f. Remove operating power from the output device.
g. Temporarily disconnect the wire connected to the C contact.
h. Apply operating power to the output device.
i. Determine that the device is de-energised, either by direct observation of the device
itself or by checking that the voltmeter indicates Zero Volts.
j. Remove operating power from the output device.
k. Reconnect the Common wire disconnected in Step g.
l. Repeat Step c. through Step k. for the remaining output devices connected to the NC
contacts.
m. Start at the first device connected to the NO contacts. If the device cannot be checked
for operation by simple observation, connect a digital voltmeter across it. Set the
voltmeter range for the expected voltage.
n. Apply operating power to the output device.
o. Determine that the device is de-energised, either by direct observation of the device
itself or by checking that the voltmeter indicates Zero Volts.
p. Remove operating power from the output device.
q. Temporarily connect a jumper wire between to NO and C contacts. Ensure that the
jumper wire is of adequate size to temporarily carry the load.
r. Apply operating power to the output device.
s. Determine that the device is energised, either by direct observation of the device itself or
by checking that the voltmeter indicates full operating voltage.
